What does oregano oil do internally?
Oregano oil exhibits a variety of therapeutic effects when administered internally, including antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Its bioactive compounds, primarily carvacrol and thymol, are responsible for its health-promoting properties, making it a valuable addition to both nutritional practices and medicinal applications. Therefore, oregano oil not only serves as a culinary ingredient but also has significant potential as a natural remedy.
Are there biological alternatives to antibiotics?
Essential oils represent promising biological alternatives to antibiotics. They offer a wide range of therapeutic options and help maintain the efficacy of modern antibiotics while protecting the health of the microbiome. Certain essential oils, such as those from thyme and oregano, have been shown to be effective against a wide range of pathogenic bacteria, making them potentially therapeutic agents for the treatment of infections. Furthermore, modern research shows that the use of essential oils in certain formulations can increase the efficacy of antibiotics, suggesting synergistic effects.
Which essential oils help with colds?
Several essential oils can help relieve symptoms such as coughs, runny noses, and sore throats, primarily eucalyptus oil, peppermint oil, oregano oil, thyme oil, pine needle oil, and grapefruit oil. Eucalyptus oil, often valued for its ability to clear airways, has been shown in studies to stimulate mucus production and thus facilitate expectoration, which is beneficial for colds. Using eucalyptus oil for inhalation can ease breathing and help relieve coughs. Thyme and oregano also possess potent antimicrobial properties and may support the immune response, as studies have shown them to be effective against cold viruses.
How can I use essential oils safely?
Highly concentrated: Always dilute before use.
Avoid sensitive areas: Do not use near the eyes, mouth or on broken skin (certain areas only).
Patch test recommended: Perform a patch test before topical application to check for sensitivity.
Not for pregnant or breastfeeding women: consult a professional before use.
Possible side effects: In rare cases, skin irritation or sensitivity may occur. Discontinue use if side effects occur.
For aromatherapy: Add 3-4 drops to a diffuser to purify the air.
For external use: Dilute 1-2 drops in 10 ml of carrier oil before applying to the skin.
For home use: Add 5 drops to homemade cleaning solutions for a natural antimicrobial effect.
For well-being: Dilute 1-2 drops in 10 ml of a food-safe carrier oil for occasional internal use (consult a qualified professional first).
Which essential oils are suitable for children?
The use of essential oils with children requires special caution, as sensitivity and reactions to these concentrated substances can vary. Some essential oils are safe and effective for children, while others should be used with caution or avoided altogether. Our oils can be used in culinary creations for children, with one strict and two conditional exceptions. Be sure to observe the mixing ratio with a carrier oil of 1-2%. We advise extreme caution when using citrus oils topically due to the potential for photosensitization. In general, peppermint oil should not be used on children under 6 years of age.
What is the difference between essential oils, fragrance oils and aroma oils?
In summary, the main difference between these oils is their origin and purpose: Essential oils are natural extracts with medicinal properties, fragrance oils are usually synthetic or natural blends without therapeutic effects, and aroma oils use a combination of both for olfactory (smell) purposes. Choosing the right oil depends on the intended uses and desired properties.
How do I recognize high-quality essential oils?
High-quality essential oils can be recognized by:
• Purity: They should be 100% natural and without synthetic additives.
• Origin: Transparent information about the origin of the plants and sustainable cultivation methods.
• Laboratory analyses: Reputable manufacturers provide analyses that confirm the purity and ingredients.
• Price: Very cheap oils are often synthetic or diluted.
Poor oils often contain artificial fragrances that can be harmful to your health, or are diluted with carrier oils without this being labeled.
What side effects do essential oils have?
Common side effects:
1. Skin irritations (skin irritation, redness, allergies): Applies to almost all, especially when used undiluted or in high concentrations.
2. Allergic reactions (skin rashes, breathing problems): Some individuals may have allergic reactions to certain essential oils.
3. Nausea and digestive problems: When taken internally and not diluted correctly, gastrointestinal problems can occur, such as with oregano, sage and thyme.
4. Central side effects: Some oils have a strong effect on the central nervous system (confusion, dizziness or increased susceptibility to anxiety), e.g. oils such as peppermint and rosemary.
Risk groups: Pregnant women, nursing mothers, infants, and individuals with certain chronic illnesses should be especially cautious. Therefore, thorough consultation with a professional is recommended. The key to safe use lies in proper dilution, selecting high-quality products, and considering individual health conditions.
Can I take essential oils internally?
Yes, you can take all food-grade certified oils internally if you follow certain safety rules. This includes diluting them in the correct ratio with a carrier oil, an alcoholic, or aqueous (difficult) solution. Our oils can be diluted to 2%, meaning 1 drop corresponds to approximately 1/20 ml, or 5%. When diluted with 5 ml (teaspoon), you need approximately 1.5 drops; with a tablespoon (15 ml), approximately 5 drops. For children, the ratio should not exceed 0.5-1%. Always remember: The dose determines how substances affect the body.

The following oils are particularly noteworthy: oregano oil, thyme oil, tea tree oil, cinnamon oil, and rosemary oil.
How do I store essential oils properly?
Essential oils should be stored in a cool, dark, and dry place to maintain their quality. Bottles should be tightly sealed, ideally made of amber glass, as light can degrade the active ingredients.

The following oils can help improve the appearance of the skin: tea tree, lavender, oregano, peppermint, geranium, lemon, and caraway. 🌿 Topic block: Mediterranean organic herbs
How do dried Mediterranean organic herbs differ from fresh herbs in their effects?
The dried organic herbs in our range contain concentrated aromatic compounds and secondary plant compounds. The drying process removes the water content, intensifying the aroma. The effect is retained – provided the drying process is carried out gently, as is our practice.
Where exactly do your Mediterranean herbs come from?
Our herbs come from certified organic cultivation or wild harvests in the Mediterranean region of Thessaly, Greece. We work exclusively with small farms and cooperatives that operate sustainably and without pesticides.
Can I also use your herbs to make tinctures or oil extracts?
Yes, our herbs are so pure that they are ideal for making tinctures, oil extracts, or natural cosmetics. Please pay attention to the correct dosage and preparation when using them – we would be happy to advise you personally.
What is the best way to store Mediterranean herbs so they retain their aroma?
Store the herbs in a dry, dark, and tightly sealed place—ideally in an aroma tin or a screw-top jar. Avoid direct sunlight and humid kitchen environments. This will preserve their flavor and effects for a long time.
Are your herbs also suitable for people with histamine intolerance?
Many Mediterranean herbs are considered low in histamine, but individual differences can occur. If you have a sensitive skin condition, we recommend consulting a specialist. Our products do not contain any hidden additives or flavor enhancers.
What does “aromatic profile” actually mean and how does it influence its use in cooking?
The aromatic profile describes the typical aroma and flavor components of an herb—e.g., tart, spicy, lemony, or balsamic. These characteristics determine whether an herb pairs better with meat, vegetables, fish, or desserts.
🍵 Topic block: Organic herbal teas
Do your herbal teas contain caffeine or theine?
No. Our herbal teas are naturally caffeine-free and made exclusively from pure plant ingredients. They are therefore also suitable for evening use, as well as for children and sensitive individuals.
How long do I need to let your tea blends steep to achieve their full effect?
The ideal brewing time is 6–10 minutes, depending on the herbal blend. For a stronger effect, such as with digestive teas or calming blends, the infusion can also be brewed for 12 minutes. Please refer to our recommendation on the packaging.
Can your herbal teas be drunk daily?
Absolutely. Our teas are designed for regular enjoyment. Some varieties, such as fennel, chamomile, or lemon balm, even have more lasting effects when used daily. For specific benefits (e.g., liver or detox teas), we recommend using them as a course of treatment.
Are the herbs in your teas also approved as food or are they used purely traditionally?
All ingredients in our tea blends are labeled as food and subject to strict organic-certified quality standards. We do not use incense blends or traditional home remedies without legal approval.
What is the difference between an infusion and a decoction?
An infusion is the classic preparation method, using hot water and a short steeping time—ideal for delicate plant parts like leaves or flowers. A decoction (boiled boil) is more commonly used for roots or bark and requires longer boiling. Our blends are optimized for infusion.
Can I also start a treatment or detox with your teas?
Yes, many of our teas can be easily integrated into a health regimen—for example, to relieve the digestive system or to support sleep. We recommend combining such regimens with a healthy diet. If unsure, seek medical advice.
Why do some herbal teas taste milder the second time they are brewed?
Many essential oils and bitter compounds dissolve in the first infusion. A second infusion usually contains only the more soluble components, making the aroma milder and less intense—but still enjoyable.
