by Dr. Michael Siewert on Sep 22 2026
Stress is an ever-present companion in our hectic daily lives. But how can we find inner balance and strengthen our resilience in a natural way? The answer may lie in the power of adaptogens. These herbal substances are known for supporting the body in coping with stress more effectively and finding a healthy equilibrium. Table of Contents Table of Contents What are adaptogens? How do adaptogens affect our body? Your journey to natural balance Frequently Asked Questions What are adaptogens? Adaptogens are a special group of plant substances that help the body adapt to stressful situations. They have a regulating effect on the nervous system and support homeostasis—the body's inner balance. But what makes adaptogens so special? They are not just a short-term energy boost; they promote the body's long-term resilience to physical and psychological stress. Examples of adaptogens: Ashwagandha: The root of this medicinal herb has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. It helps calm the mind and promotes restful sleep—two important factors in stress management. Rhodiola Rosea: Known as the "golden root," Rhodiola helps reduce mental fatigue and improve concentration. An energizing companion for stressful days. Schisandra: Traditionally, its seeds and berries are used for medicinal purposes, including increasing strength, energy, and stamina, supporting the immune system, and acting as a mood lifter and sleep aid. How do adaptogens affect our body? Visualize your body as a fine clockwork mechanism that gets out of sync due to the stress of everyday life. Adaptogens act as master mechanics, gently adjusting the system to restore its original balance. They work at the cellular level to optimize adrenal function, promote neurotransmitter balance, and support anti-inflammatory processes. But are adaptogens suitable for everyone? These plants have a remarkably low side-effect profile. Nevertheless, it is advisable to discuss their use with a doctor or alternative practitioner, especially if you have existing health issues. Your journey to natural balance Integrating adaptogens into your daily life can be a valuable step toward well-being. Consider which form of intake—tea, capsule, or powder—is most convenient for you.

by Dr. Michael Siewert on Sep 22 2026
Gesundheit sollte immer an erster Stelle stehen.

Greek mountain tea vs. other mountain teas

by Michael Siewert on Mar 25 2026
In a time when our daily lives are becoming increasingly hectic, many people are looking for natural ways to support their health and well-being. Greek Mountain Tea has established itself as a true natural wonder, but what makes it so special? Our Greek Mountain Tea comparison shows the decisive differences from other mountain teas. Let us discover together why Sideritis Scardica is the first choice for health-conscious tea lovers and how you can integrate it into your everyday life.   What is Greek Mountain Tea and what are its benefits? Greek Mountain Tea from Olympus, botanically known as Sideritis Scardica, is much more than just an aromatic drink; it is a piece of living tradition from the majestic mountains of Greece. For over 2,000 years, this special herbal tea has been anchored in Greek culture and used as a natural remedy. The plants grow at extreme altitudes between 1,000 and 2,000 meters, where intense UV radiation, barren soil, and a harsh climate ensure an exceptionally high concentration of valuable plant compounds. The name "ironwort" comes from antiquity: Greek warriors used it for wound healing after battles, hence the connection to iron. Can you imagine how this powerful tea can naturally support your well-being?   The Sideritis family: An overview Not all mountain teas are the same! The genus Sideritis comprises various species native to different regions of the Mediterranean. Our Greek Mountain Tea comparison shows only a small selection of available mountain tea varieties: Mountain Tea Variety Botanical Name Origin Flavor Profile Special Feature Greek Mountain Tea Sideritis Scardica Greece (Olympus, Pindus) Mild, floral, slightly sweet Highest flavonoid content Turkish Mountain Tea Sideritis Sipylea Turkey (Anatolia) Spicier, earthier Traditionally with spices Spanish Mountain Tea Sideritis Hirsuta Spain (Pyrenees) Stronger, more tart Higher tannin content Cretan Mountain Tea Sideritis Syriaca Crete Aromatic, intense Local Cretan specialty Did you know? Only Sideritis Scardica from the Greek mountains has a scientifically proven effect on memory and concentration – a crucial difference from other species! How to recognize premium quality 1. Origin and cultivation area The region of origin is the most important quality feature for Greek mountain tea. Original mountain tea comes exclusively from the mountain regions of Thessaly, Macedonia, or Epirus in Greece. The extreme growth conditions at these altitudes—intense sunlight, barren soil, strong temperature fluctuations—force the plant to form particularly large amounts of protective compounds. The result: A powerhouse of antioxidants and essential oils! When buying, ensure that the exact origin is stated. Our premium mountain tea comes directly from the Olympus mountains, where it has been harvested using traditional methods for generations. Can you recognize the difference between genuine mountain quality and mass-produced goods? 2. The most important ingredients The decisive difference lies in the bioactive plant compounds. Studies by the University of Münster and Northumbria University (UK) have proven that Greek mountain tea (Sideritis Scardica) has an exceptional composition: Flavonoids (apigenin, luteolin): Up to 30% higher concentration than in other Sideritis species—responsible for the antioxidant effect Essential oils: Particularly rich in neuroprotective terpenes that protect the brain Polyphenols: Powerful action against free radicals, anti-aging effect Rosmarinic acid: Has anti-inflammatory properties and supports memory This unique combination makes Greek mountain tea the frontrunner among all mountain tea varieties. Can you already feel your body craving this natural support? 3. Taste and aroma in comparison There are significant differences between the various mountain tea varieties, not only in terms of health but also in taste. Our Greek Mountain Tea comparison shows: Greek Mountain Tea from Olympus: Mild, floral with honey-like sweetness – perfect for daily enjoyment, also suitable for children. The natural sweetness arises from the high concentration of plant compounds and requires no additional sweeteners. Turkish Mountain Tea: Spicier, earthier character – ideal for lovers of intense herbal teas; traditionally refined with spices like cinnamon. Spanish Mountain Tea: Strong, slightly bitter – an acquired taste, more suitable for experienced tea drinkers. Cretan Mountain Tea: Aromatically intense – a regional delicacy with its own distinctive character. Our bestseller from the mountains of Thessaly impresses with its gentle, harmonious note without any additives—a clear sign of top quality! Can you already imagine how this soothing tea pampers your senses? 4. Health benefits This is where the true difference in the Greek Mountain Tea comparison becomes apparent! Greek Mountain Tea (Sideritis Scardica) is the only mountain tea with a scientifically proven effect on: Memory & Concentration Improves cognitive performance in mild dementia and ADHD Promotes the formation of new nerve cells (neurogenesis) Protects against Alzheimer's by reducing amyloid-beta plaques Antioxidant Power Neutralizes free radicals more effectively than green tea Protects cells from oxidative stress Anti-aging effect for skin and tissue Stress Reduction & Relaxation Lowers cortisol levels naturally Has a calming effect without causing drowsiness Perfect as an evening ritual for relaxation Immune System Boost Anti-inflammatory properties Supports in cases of colds and respiratory infections Strengthens natural defenses Important: These effects are scientifically proven specifically for Sideritis Scardica—other mountain teas show similar but significantly weaker effects! Are you ready to treat your body to this natural support? 5. Proper preparation Greek Mountain Tea is very forgiving in its preparation, but with this traditional method, you get the maximum out of it: Traditional Greek recipe: Dosage: 1-2 flowers (approx. 2-3g) per cup—feel free to use more for a more intense taste Water: 95 - 100°C! Steeping time: 5-10 minutes—the longer, the more intense and healing Infusions: Can be re-steeped 2-3 times! Economical and environmentally friendly Greek insider tip: Add a cinnamon stick, a splash of lemon, a teaspoon of honey, or combine it with lemon verbena—this is how it has been drunk in the mountains of Greece for centuries! A true pleasure in summer as a refreshing iced tea with mint. Think about your own tea ritual—a moment of peace that belongs to you. Can you already sense the calming scent? 6. Our tea bears the EU organic seal and is regularly laboratory-tested for heavy metals, pesticides, and ingredients. Region of origin: Original Greek mountain tea comes from Thessaly, Macedonia, or Epirus—it is not relabeled from China or Turkey! Reputable suppliers name the exact region and harvest year. Harvest time: The best quality is hand-picked from June to August during the flowering period. Late harvests or machine harvests are inferior and contain fewer active ingredients.  Appearance & Scent Color: light green with yellow flowers—not brown or faded Scent: Fine-floral, aromatic—not musty or stale Structure: Whole stems with leaves and flowers or pure flowers—no breakage or dust  Show your body the appreciation it deserves—choose premium quality!   Why our Greek Mountain Tea is your best choice As a Greek cooperative, we have been working directly with mountain farmers in Greece for many years. Greek Mountain Tea (Sideritis Scardica) is a traditional herbal tea from the mountains of Greece that has been used as a natural remedy for over 2,000 years. Its effect is based on a unique combination of flavonoids, essential oils, and polyphenols, which are scientifically proven to improve memory, reduce inflammation, and strengthen the immune system. Which mountain tea is best suited for beginners? Definitely Greek Mountain Tea (Sideritis Scardica)! It is mild, slightly sweet, and not bitter—perfect for getting started. Turkish or Spanish mountain teas are more intense and take some getting used to. The gentle, floral note of Greek Mountain Tea makes it suitable even for children. How does Greek Mountain Tea differ from other mountain teas? The main difference in the Greek Mountain Tea comparison lies in the ingredients and the scientifically proven effect. Sideritis scardica from Greece contains up to 30% more flavonoids than other species and is the only variety with proven effects on cognitive performance and memory. In addition, the taste is milder and more pleasant. Are there any side effects with Greek mountain tea? Greek mountain tea is extremely well-tolerated and has practically no side effects. In rare cases, an overdose (more than 5 cups daily) can lead to slight dizziness. It is also suitable for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children – unlike caffeinated teas. How much Greek mountain tea should I drink daily? The recommended dose is 1-3 cups daily for optimal health benefits. However, you can enjoy it more frequently – it is not a medication, but a soothing beverage. Many people drink it in the morning for mental clarity and in the evening for relaxation. Where is the best place to store mountain tea? Store Greek mountain tea in a dark, dry, and airtight container. Our packaging or transferring it into a tinplate aroma-protection canister is ideal. This keeps the tea fresh for up to 2 years and preserves the essential oils. Avoid the refrigerator (condensation!) and direct sunlight. Is Greek mountain tea really better than green tea? For cognitive performance, memory, and relaxation without caffeine: Yes! A direct Greek mountain tea comparison with green tea shows: Green tea is excellent for metabolism and fat burning, but Greek mountain tea is the specialist for the brain, nerves, and stress-free energy. Both have their merits; it depends on your goals. Can I also drink Greek mountain tea cold? Absolutely! In summer, simply let it cool down and refine it with honey, lemon, and mint for a refreshing, healthy iced tea! The active ingredients are preserved even when prepared cold. Perfect for hot days. How do I know if the tea really comes from Greece? Reputable providers state the region of origin & harvest year. You should be suspicious of: "Mountain tea" without an origin label, extremely low prices below €10/100g, or a lack of organic certification. Ask about it! Can I mix different mountain teas? Yes! Many Greeks mix Greek mountain tea with lemon verbena, but blends with sage, thyme, or oregano for added flavor and health benefits are also common. Make sure the steeping times are similar. Experiment and find your favorite blend! How long does it take for the effects to be noticeable? You can often feel the relaxing effect immediately after the first sip. Long-term benefits such as improved concentration, memory, and stress resistance can appear after regular use over 2-4 weeks – as shown by scientific studies. Can I combine aromatherapy with Greek mountain tea? Yes, excellently! Greek mountain tea used internally, combined with essential oils for external relaxation, enhances the effect. The combination can lead to deeper relaxation and holistic well-being. What makes Greek mountain tea special compared to other varieties? Our comprehensive Greek mountain tea comparison shows: The unique combination of the highest flavonoid content, scientifically proven effects on the brain and memory, and the mild, pleasant taste make Sideritis Scardica the premium choice among all mountain tea varieties.5 × 5

Fish – food for the heart, poison for the tongue?

by Michael Siewert on Nov 03 2025
Fish is traditionally considered a symbol of vitality and health. It provides high-quality protein, valuable omega-3 fatty acids, iodine, selenium, and zinc. These nutrients promote heart health, reduce inflammation, and support brain function and mood. Studies show that regular fish consumption can reduce the risk of heart attacks, depression, and dementia. Two to three servings per week are recommended. However, fish is increasingly associated with risks: large predatory fish such as tuna or swordfish often contain methylmercury and other pollutants that can be particularly harmful to pregnant women and children. Preparation is also crucial—steamed or baked fish has health-promoting effects, whereas fried fish can negate these benefits. The core finding of many studies: only pure, low-pollutant fish offers health benefits. Origin and quality are more important than quantity. Smaller species from wild catches or certified organic farming are particularly recommended. In conclusion, the article calls for conscious selection and moderate consumption. Fish can strengthen the heart, brain, and cells—but only if it is clean. The balance between being a source of nutrients and a source of pollutants determines whether it remains a remedy or a risk.

Fasting – When the body is finally allowed to listen again

by Michael Siewert on Nov 03 2025
Introduction Fasting is not a diet – it is a dialogue between body, mind, and cells. And sometimes, it is the most honest conversation you can have with yourself. Many people associate fasting with deprivation or discipline.Yet biologically, fasting means exactly the opposite: renewal, relief, regeneration. Those who fast activate their self-healing powers and give their cells time to recover. What really happens during fasting As soon as you go without food for a while, your body switches to an ancient survival program: The cells start their internal repair mechanisms (autophagy). The liver regenerates. The immune system is modulated. Inflammation decreases. The gut microbiome – our inner ecosystem – gets to breathe. Studies show that intermittent fasting (e.g., 16:8)→ improves insulin sensitivity,→ reduces inflammation→ and stabilizes the metabolism. The result: fewer cravings, a clearer mind, more energy. But – fasting is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Which forms of fasting make sense Intermittent fasting (16:8) You eat within an 8-hour window and fast for 16 hours.Suitable for everyday life and well-researched scientifically. Tip: Start gently. Skipping one meal is often enough to activate the processes. Time-restricted fasting (5:2) Eat normally for five days, severely restricted for two days (500–600 kcal).Ideal for structured people who prefer fixed routines. Water or therapeutic fasting Only water, herbal tea, or broth – therapeutically useful for certain metabolic or inflammatory diseases.Perform only under medical supervision. Tip:Herbal teas like sage, rosemary, or nettle support the liver and detoxification.👉 Discover here – Anthos herbal teas from Mediterranean organic herbs. When you should be careful Fasting changes your biochemistry – that is both its power and its risk.People with diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, or those on psychiatric medication should only fast under medical supervision. Because: insulin, blood pressure, and electrolytes shift significantly during fasting.Fasting is not a competition, but a reset. How to fast optimally Start slowly: Your body needs time to adapt. Drink plenty: Preferably still water or herbal tea. Supplement minerals: Magnesium, potassium, and zinc support cell regeneration. Stay calm: Stress sabotages the positive effects of fasting. Tip:A glass of warm water with lemon juice in the morning activates the liver and stabilizes the acid-base balance. Fasting – an ancient medicine Hippocrates already knew: "When you are sick, nourish yourself; when you are healthy, fast." In ancient Greece, fasting was considered a cleansing for body and soul.Today, studies confirm what was intuitively understood back then:Fasting is the oldest form of biological medicine. Fasting as a return to inner order Fasting does not mean taking something away – it means letting go of the superfluous. It is a return to simplicity, an invitation to the body to listen. You give your cells space to communicate and your mind an opportunity to clear.Health is not created through "more" – but through conscious less. Sources Stange, R. & Michalsen, A.
